A Message from the Principal
2013-14 School Year

Dear Canal Winchester Families,

Welcome to Canal Winchester Middle School! As the new principal, I am truly honored to be a part of the CWMS family and look forward to working with a highly dedicated staff to provide the best possible educational programs for our students.

Middle school is a vital bridge between elementary school and high school—it is also a period when young people, often for the first time in their lives, begin to actively seek a sense of purpose and place. As educators we work to implement and cultivate programs that keep the uniqueness of adolescence in the forefront of our instruction, curriculum, assessment and every decision made at the middle school level. It is our job to provide our students with these opportunities, while also keeping them engaged, challenged and supported.

Here at CWMS, it is our goal that each child reaches his or her greatest potential academically, emotionally, and socially. All students can achieve at high levels, and we will continue to meet these high expectations by promoting academic rigor, developing positive character, respecting diversity, and engaging and encouraging students in a safe and student-centered environment. We are proud of our school and will continue to work towards excellence and high levels of academic achievement.  Through the efforts of our entire school community, we will help our young adults develop their unique skills and talents and prepare them for continued success far beyond their early adolescent years.
