A Message from the Principal
2017-18 School Year

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! To those of you returning to Winchester Trail, I hope you had a relaxing summer break filled with fun memories! I can’t wait to see you again! For those of you new to Winchester Trail, welcome! I am excited to meet you and welcome you into the WTES family. Mrs. Fries and I, along with our caring teachers and staff, are ready to partner with you and your student on your educational journey. At Winchester Trail, we are committed to providing a Respectful, Responsible and Safe learning environment which allows us to fulfill our district mission of “Empowering All Students for Success.”

This school year holds a lot of promise and excitement as we will strive to develop more meaningful relationships with our students, their families, all stakeholders and each other. Our goal is to build a strong foundation of compassion and care so that each student truly can be empowered to do and be his/her best.

There are some exciting changes happening at Winchester Trail as we provide more opportunities for our students to be successful. 3rd grade students will have a critical thinking enrichment several times a month to develop their problem solving skills. 4th and 5th grade students will participate in a new related arts class. Design Time will engage students in the 4 C’s – communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. Our library will be undergoing a transition from its traditional model to a Library Learning Commons. Students will have several open areas in which they can engage in a variety of learning experiences. 5th grade students will be participating in Outdoor Ed in November where they will travel to Heartland Outdoor School for an amazing educational experience. These are just a few of the exciting additions to the educational experience of Winchester Trail students.

All of these changes are nothing without a meaningful partnership between students, their families, and school staff. We are looking forward to that collaboration to help your student be successful at Winchester Trail. If you don’t follow Winchester Trail on Facebook or Twitter, please consider doing so. Mrs. Fries and I post a lot of the day to day activities on social media, and it’s a quick way for you to see what’s going on in the building!!

I look forward to meeting you and working with you as your student begins or continues his/her journey at Winchester Trail! Here’s to a great school year! If you need anything at all, please contact me. It’s my pleasure to be of service to you and your student!

Sincerely,

Lori Green, Prinicpal WTES
