Dear WTES Families,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!  Another summer has come and gone again so quickly.  I hope all of you had a relaxing and enjoyable summer break.  For those families that are new to the Canal Winchester School District and Winchester Trail Elementary, I would like to welcome you to our fantastic school district and look forward to meeting you in the near future!

As a new administrator to the district, I would thank everyone for their warm welcome and support as I have been getting acclimated all summer to serve the WTES families to the best of my ability.  Mrs. Fries and I are excited to begin our first year together as the administrators of Winchester Trail Elementary. We, along with the amazing staff at Winchester Trail, look forward to continuing to build those positive relationships that are vital to student success, growth, and achievement.  At Winchester Trail, we pride ourselves on connecting with, and getting to know the students on a personal level. This enables each staff member to personalize the students' learning and meet the educational needs of each and every student. We believe that a strong relationship, built on trust between student and teacher, can lead to significant student learning as well as academic gains!

We continue to be committed to the Mission Statement of "Empowering All Students for Success". One way we do this is by having our staff will continue to utilize our Library Learning Commons.  Students will be entering a welcoming, service-oriented, technology-rich environment with comfortable working areas and flexible seating that enable different groupings of students to work collaboratively, independently, or as a whole group.  These innovative learning spaces will provide students and teachers with opportunities to learn more advanced technology skills and create more complex digital products, engaging students in the 4 C's – communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.

In addition, the staff also will begin training in the 7 Habits as they transition this year to be a Leader in Me (LiM) School.  This is from Stephen and Sean Covey’s extensive work. This growth producing training will enhance the learning opportunities and begin a journey that the students will learn over the coming years at Winchester Trail Elementary.

I look forward to meeting you and partnering with you as we support your child’s academic and overall growth at Winchester Trail Elementary.
