The Attendance/Fees office for grades 6, 7 and 8th is located in the front lobby of the Middle School for your convenience when dropping off and picking up your student. The Attendance direct phone # is 614-828-4900 and the Attendance fax # is 614-828-4905.
- All visitors entering the Middle School must stop at the front lobby desk to sign in and obtain a visitor pass to proceed into the school halls due to security and fire safety.
Ring callbox at right of front doors and show picture ID at monitor to gain entry to front lobby.
Doors open on school mornings at 7:35am.
Tardy time is 7:45-9:00 a.m. and unexcused without a doctor excuse.
Students arriving late to school should enter the front lobby doors to sign in with
Attendance Secretary and obtain a pass to their classroom.
Chronic tardiness is unacceptable and will result in disciplinary action.
STATE LAW REQUIRES CUSTODIAL PARENTS TO CALL AND NOTIFY THE SCHOOL BY 9:00 A.M. ON EACH DAY OF YOUR CHILD’S ABSENCE.

Parent/guardians are welcome to leave a voicemail 24/7. Until we hear from the custodial parent, students will be considered unexcused and truant. The Attendance secretary will make every effort to contact the custodial parent if a call is not received.
- Canal Winchester School District Absence Policy
School attendance and academic success are closely linked.
Per district policy, absences are excused by parent notification for a maximum of
9 days for the school year. All other absences will require a doctor’s note.
Remember to always turn in a dentist/doctor excuse.
If a student accumulates 7 unexcused absences, a Due Process Hearing
may be scheduled with Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Truancy Officer
for student and/or parents.
If unexcused absences continue, truancy/neglect charges will be filed by FC Courts.
If a student exceeds 20 days of absences (excused or unexcused), the
following actions may take place: summer school, retention, or expulsion.
- Early Dismissals for authorized appointments
If student needs to leave during the school day, he/she should bring a note from a parent/guardian to receive a “Permit to leave the building” pass.
This will enable student be dismissed to the front lobby at a specific time without
interruption to their classroom.
Only Authorized Contacts check marked on Student Information Card will be allowed to
pick up student without prior notice.

Student personal cell phone use is prohibited in school
Proper procedure is for the student to obtain teacher permission/required pass to the Clinic.

Agenda book $3.00
Art (if scheduled) $7.00
Work & Family (if scheduled) $5.00
Acceptable forms of payment: EZPay (online), check, money order, VISA, Mastercard, or cash (exact amount). Payment plans are available.
Fines (lost or damaged school property, library or textbook costs) must be received in order for student to receive report card. Any uncollected fees/fines will accumulate and be carried forward from year to year per district policy.
