Thank you for your continued support during our time of remote learning. As we are about to start our
fifth week of learning at home, we want to communicate how assessment of learning will continue for
the district. Please know that we have asked our teachers to determine what skills and content can be
reasonably accomplished during this time period and to assign only meaningful tasks necessary to
determine evidence of learning. We feel our teachers have been creative and flexible in this new way
of classroom instruction and are prioritizing your students’ well-being first and foremost. Please
continue to reach out to teachers and building principals for needed clarification. We all want to work
together to make sure our students and families are being supported.
Teachers will continue to assign work to students via distance learning. Assignments turned
into the teacher will indicate attendance in school for all 3rd- 12th grade students. k- 2nd grade
level teachers continue to contact families through phone calls, dojo, email and assist them
with the assignments if needed. For those students who are not completing assignments
contact will be made by one of the following; teacher, administration, guidance counselor or
SRO officer. Each school has a spreadsheet documenting students who are not completing
assignments and documentation is logged for each attempt made to reach out to the student,
which will serve as a record of the number of students “not attending” school.
Teachers will grade two assignments per week, in ELA and Math for the remainder of the trimester.
There will be a focus on completion and effort. Students need to complete their assignments and put
forth their best effort. Please communicate to teachers or principals if there are concerns about
assignments, or if help is needed in any way.
For the third trimester, teachers will grade two reading and two math assignments weekly. Science
and Social Studies assignments will vary from 1-2 per week. Grades will vary from point value to
completion grades. All assignments will be considered classwork. Related Arts will continue to follow
the same grading which exists (O/S/U) and will grade one assignment for each related arts subject
per week. Please communicate to teachers or principals if there are concerns about assignments, or
if help is needed in any way.
Middle School and High School
Teachers will continue to assign necessary grades for the remainder of the trimester/quarter. Please
communicate to teachers or principals if there are concerns about assignments, or if help is needed in
any way. For those involved with athletics, please don’t forget that 3rd trimester (MS) and 4th quarter
(HS) grades determine fall athletic eligibility.
